Reporting property found on private premises such as railway stations or department stores

If you find lost property in private premises such as railway stations or department stores, you should turn it in to the management of the premises such as staff at the railway station without delay.

The staff receiving it will submit it to the management of the premises.

The management will return it to the person who lost the property if identified, and if not, turn it over to the nearby police station within seven days.

The unclaimed property is handled in the same way as the property found in public places.

When the staff return the property directly to the person who has lost it, or when the police return it to the owner after the staff have submitted it to the police, both the management of the premises and the finder have the right to be rewarded by the person who has recovered the property.
